June 5, 2012 – A Memory of a Royal Meeting 1974
Queen Elisabeth & I, one grey day in London I was walking past the gates of Buckingham Palace when a royal guard stepped out and raised his hand. I stood just off the edge of the palace gravel drive & the Queen rolled out in her Bentley. The car paused and in that moment the Queen looked up at me and our eyes met. I was so surprised I just smiled and gently raised my hand. She gave me a warm smile and wave back and off she went. There was no one else anywhere near, the mall deserted, as I stood there wondering how amazing it was that I was in that place at just that moment in time. I hope I never forget the look we shared…I suppose I should have curtsied 😉
